Mrs. Kimberly Johnson
Hi, my name is Kimberly Johnson. I currently teach 8th and 9th grade Study Skills classes and serve as an interventionist and AJHS's Response to Intervention Coordinator. I began teaching in 1998 at Cedar Ridge Middle School in Decatur, AL. I started at AJHS in 2004. I taught 8th-grade English Language Arts for 18 years before teaching Study Skills and Creative Writing. I started teaching only Study Skills classes and providing interventions in 2018. I have been a Nationally Board Certified Teacher since 2004.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Alabama, an M. Ed from Alabama A&M University in English Language Arts Education, and an Ed.S from Auburn University in English Language Arts Education.
I was the 2021-2022 Alabama Teacher of the Year and the 2024 National Education Association, NEA Foundation, Members Benefits Awardee.
My classes focus on goal setting and building good work and school habits. I enjoy working with students and supporting them as they work to achieve their goals and experience success. I look forward to a fantastic school year with all of my students.
