We wanted to update you on the video platform we will be using for digital learning moving forward. Dr. Herring, our superintendent, shared a statement yesterday with the ACS community regarding the use of the platform Webex. ACS teachers will use this common platform to teach online lessons. Webex is a safe, secure video platform that provides teachers with many safety features and controls. This will ensure the safety of all of our video platform users moving into the next 7 weeks.
I want to thank all of you for your patience, your support, and your commitment to your child's continued education. While this is certainly not the way we intended to end our academic year, your child's safety, emotional stability and continued learning are our tops priorities. Online learning officially begins Monday, April 6. We look forward to serving your child as we make all efforts to end this academic year successfully!
Please reach out to your child's teacher in the coming weeks with any questions regarding assignments. We are here for YOU!
Thank you all! We sure do MISS YOU!
Greetings PES Family,
In light of the news we received from Governor Kay Ivey, we know that our school building is closed, but school will still go on, just in a different way.
Teachers are working now to make contact with all of you to determine which learning method best fits your family at this time:
- Digital Learning platform
All students will be required to participate in one of these platforms. Teachers are setting up WebEx sessions now to provide families with information.
Students will need their workbooks and supplies when we start on April 6. Please see the attachment regarding a supply pick up day scheduled for this Wednesday, April 1. There are specific instructions for each grade level with specified times for pick up. Staff will carefully follow all CDC recommendations during this pick up opportunity.
We are also asking families who need to pick up medicine from Nurse Becky do this at your child's scheduled grade level pick up time Wednesday, April 1. Nurse Becky will be stationed on the north end of the school campus ready for you.
If your child has a library book at home, we are asking that those all be returned when you come to pick up supplies next week.
Please stay in close contact with your child's homeroom teacher for information. It is very important that we work with you to provide the very best learning opportunities under these circumstances.
We miss your children and we miss all of you.
We will get through this.

Dear Pick Family,
This is certainly the time of year for sharing and visiting with loved ones and friends! Please be mindful that it is also the time of year for sharing Flu, Colds, Stomach bugs and other illnesses.
Remember to follow our school illness policy in order to keep our whole Pick Family well! When one child comes to school with contagious symptoms, it can directly impact about 25-30 other families (classmates and their families, teachers and their families, etc.).

Cannot attend school until fever free twenty-four hours without fever-reducing medications.
Vomiting: Cannot attend school if the following exist:
One episode of vomiting + the presence of another symptom (fever, diarrhea, etc.) or
Two or more episodes of vomiting within a 24 hour period, even if no other symptoms exist.
Diarrhea: Cannot attend school if the following exist:
One episode of diarrhea + the presence of another symptom (fever, diarrhea, etc. ) or
Three of more episodes of diarrhea in a 24 hour period, even if no other symptoms exist.
Flu: Cannot attend until fever free 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine.
You should inform the school nurse if your child is diagnosed with the flu.
