Cell Phones (pg. 37 in ACS Parent Student Handbook) If the device is visible, heard, or in use we will confiscate the device in line with the procedures detailed in the handbook.
Dress Code (pg. 22-23 in ACS Parent Student Handbook) Please revisit clothing choices with your student to ensure they are in line with the procedures in the handbook. Particularly the “4-inch” rule with regard to shorts and the details regarding leggings. There are some newer styles in shorts for both boys and girls that do not meet the “4 inch” requirement.

This week we will begin the process of informing students about 7th grade exploratory class options at East Samford School. This will be done through classroom guidance sessions and these will occur on the dates listed above with one team participating each day. Mrs. Smith and Mr. Keel, our counselors, will show a video overview of exploratory options and will distribute an information/selection sheet which will be sent home for your review. Please discuss all options with your child, rank your top three selections, and return the sheet to your child’s Social Studies teacher. For your consideration, there are six options for 7th grade exploratory: Art, Choir, Theatre, Band, Medical Detectives, and Design and Modeling.
Remember to clip and collect Box Tops! You can find Box Tops on many of the products you already have in your home. For a list of participating products, go to BTFE.com.
The money raised will be used to buy books and instructional materials for our Media Center. Please cut the box tops out neatly and group them in zip-loc bags of 50 per bag, with your child’s team name on the bag. Turn the bags of box tops in to your homeroom teacher or the Media Center by Feb. 25th. If you do not have enough Box Tops to make 50; just write the total number on the outside of the bag along with the other information; so we do not have to recount those box tops.

The Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) will begin its state assessment at Drake Middle School on Tuesday, March 31. Click here to review the full schedule or check out Drake's calendar for times and dates. We encourage students to be present especially on dates and times your student's team will be testing.
It's time for the 2019-2020 Six Flags Read to Succeed Campaign!! This is a free program that allows students in grades K-6 to earn tickets to Six Flags Over Georgia just by reading six hours for fun!! Here are the steps to register.
1) Visit: sixflags.com/books Use DMS code: YD17K
2) You may read any books you choose.
3) Keep track of your reading using the attached form.
4) Record your reading at the website sixflags.com/books.
5) Receive a free Six Flags Over Georgia ticket from Drake Middle School in May.
You can optionally earn bonus awards by reading more than six hours such as discounts on additional tickets for family members, Season Passes or Memberships.
All electronic reading logs are due April 15, 2020 by 5 pm.

In May 2018, the Board of Education approved Facility Plan 2028, a 10-year plan addressing the demolition, reconstruction and renovation of buildings and the impact of student growth on facilities capacity.
