The mission of the federal programs department is to ensure that all students have a fair and equal opportunity to obtain high-quality education while having the interventions and resources necessary to meet the challenging state standards.

  • Auburn City Schools uses Title I, Part A funds to improve the academic achievement of students and is funded through a mandate in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  Currently, Auburn City Schools serves all ten elementary schools with Title I, Part A funds and uses the funding to provide support through personnel, materials and supplies, parental involvement, and other set-asides.  Our system’s current LEA plan can be found under the resources section on this page.

  • The purpose of Title II, Part A funds, as mandated by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), is to increase student achievement through effective instruction.  The funding can be used to improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers and administrators through professional development, recruitment and retention, and leadership development.  Currently, Auburn City Schools uses our Title II, Part A funds through class size reduction to increase the effectiveness of our classrooms across the district.

  • Title III of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), reauthorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA, is used to support English Learners (ELs) and immigrant students by helping them meet the same challenging academic standards as their peers.  We do this in Auburn City Schools by providing high-quality language instruction, professional development, and opportunities for parent and family engagement.  Our system’s EL Handbook can be found under the resources section on this page.

  • Auburn City Schools, in collaboration with the Title IV Advisory Committee, allocates Title IV funding to support a well-rounded education, safe and healthy students, and effective use of technology.  Also reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title IV funds are used in Auburn to increase parental engagement and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEM) instruction.
