Hello! I received a degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and worked in the paper industry for 12 years before deciding to do what I had always wanted to do – teach. In 2010, I participated in a government grant program through Drexel University which provided the education and support for engineers and scientists to become math teachers in struggling schools. Through this program, I taught two years of high school math in Mobile, AL, and earned my alternative teaching certificate. After that, I began working in middle schools, where I felt a calling with this age group and have remained ever since. I have taught in Mobile, Opelika, and Auburn. This year will be my 15th year teaching math and my 5th year at East Samford School.
