Programs
Federal Program Descriptions
The Federal Programs section includes programs funded by The Elementary and Secondary Education Act as well as other programs funded through the United States Department of Education (USDOE). These programs include Title I, Title II and Title III. In addition, the program for English Learners (EL) whose primary language is not English, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Discipline Review Committee (DRC), and Response to Instruction (RtI) are coordinated through this office.

Program Description

Title I
|
Funds under this program are intended to provide supplemental instruction and resources to aide students who are determined to be "educationally at-risk." Services such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, homework help, etc. may be part of the Title I supports at a school.

Title II
|
Funds under this program may be used to hire teachers to reduce class size or to provide professional learning opportunities for staff.

Title III
|
Funds under this program are provided to support learning for students for whom English is not the primary language.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs
|
ESL programs are funded through a combination of Title III, State and Local funds. The ESL program is designed to support the learning needs of students whose primary language is not English.

Response to Instruction (RtI)
|
RtI is a framework designed to address deficits that learners may possess in order to help them close any existing gaps between their current performance and grade level standards. The services provided through RtI may address academic, emotional or behavioral needs.

Section 504
|
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a federal law that provides guidance for public agencies in designing and delivering appropriate educational services for students with disabilities. |
