Kindergarten and First grade students start the school year checking out one book at a time. The children may keep the book one week with the option to renew (with book in hand) the book for an additional week. After the two week time period, the book will be marked "overdue".
First graders will progress to a two-book check out as they become familiar with book selection and as long as they maintain a good book return record.
Should a student finish reading their library book before the next assigned library day, that student may come to the library with their classroom teacher's permission and at a time that does not interfere with classroom instruction to return the book and check out another one. Nevertheless, we encourage students to keep their book a minimum of three (3) days before returning to the school library.
Students are encouraged to return books when completed so they can find another book to read.
