Test Taking Tips
Parents
- Encourage your child to do his/her best. He/she
should know that you believe in him/her 100%
- Provide a relaxing and stress free environment for your
child the mornings of standardized testing. He/she may feel stressed thinking about the test.
- Encourage good study habits daily.
- Practice test taking using daily assignments.
- Provide a family routine with study time, balanced meals
and enough sleep. Rest is very important for academic success.
- Get your child to school on time.
Students
- Be sure to have everything you need for the test--glasses,
pencils, calculator, & comfortable clothes.
- Clear your mind and focus only on doing your best.
- Read each question carefully. Read all
of the answer choices. Think about what question is
asking.
- Do not rush, but do not waste too much time on one
question.
- If you are confused by a question, go on with the rest of
the test and come back to it later if you have time.
- If you finish early, check over your answers.
- Ask for help if you do not understand the directions.
- Use context clues to answer questions when possible.
- Believe in yourself! Do your best!
