Couseling and Guidance Program Mission Statement Educate the whole child--academically, socially, and emotionally. Inspire all children to understand and appreciate self and others. Empower all students to explore opportunities and lead productive, healthful lives.
All students participate in classroom guidance lessons twice once a month with Mary Richburg, school counselor. Community resources also provide some guidance lessons for our students. Third and fourth grades also have guidance lessons presented by Mr. Tom Spicer using Second Steps prevention and positive decision making lessons. Officer Keith Horne leads DARE lessons for all fifth graders during the second semester. Small group and individual counseling sessions are available for students during the school day. Parents, teachers, and students may refer students for these sessions. Counseling and guidance activities are part of the State of Alabama curriculum. |
