• The ACCESS Test for English Language Learners is an assessment required by the State of Alabama to determine an English language learners level of proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. 

Q.  What types of activities can I participate in with my child at home?

• Label items in you home in their native language and English.  
• Read aloud.
• Purchase or check out books on tape/CD from a library.
• Have "English Only Hour" at your house, when EVERYONE in the house speaks only English.
• Watch educational programming together and discuss it in  both languages.

Q.  What about extracurricular activities?

• I encourage students to participate in sports through the Auburn City Parks and Recreation Department.
• I would also encourage students to participate in the Arts (theater, music, visual arts) through private teachers or the Auburn City Parks and Recreation Department.
• The Auburn Public Library offers activities for students.
