About Ogletree Secret Garden

Our wonderful garden is a home to a variety of micro- habitats, a view into plant and animal lifecycles, and a literacy garden featuring our favorite authors. It is a learning laboratory maintained by the students of Ogletree.

ONCE A POND A TIME...WE DECIDED IT WOULD BE NICE TO ADD A WATER HABITAT TO OUR GARDEN.  WE KNEW WE HAD TO DO A LOT OF RESEARCH TO KNOW HOW TO BUILD THE POND AND TO LEARN ABOUT THE ANIMALS THAT WOULD COME TO LIVE THERE.  WE ALSO KNEW WE WOULD NEED HELP WITH THE "HARD TO DO STUFF".

Recipe For A Pond

By Hannah T.

First, you’ll need a teaspoon of Monet.

Then, you’ll need 5 cups of critters.

Stir in 6 cups of nature.

Add planning, water, flowers, a ton of learning and a whole lot of fun!

We did it!!! We read and researched about pond life, invited guest speakers, and we dug and dug and dug until . . . we now have a pond and a waterfall! Thanks to the many children, parents and friends who helped finish off the rock and have added plants and fish to the pond. Our new pond friends are Goldie, Sparkles, Sparkle Jr. and Al the algae eater! We love our pond!!!!

                                           BUTTERFLIES                                                           EVERYWHERE!!!!!

Each year we plant host plants to attract Swallowtails, Monarchs and Viceroys to lay their eggs. We love to watch them hatch and grow into caterpillars. In the spring we plant annuals and perennials for nectaring plants for the butterflies.

All-STAR  CHILDRENS' THEATER!

A.C.T. DRAMA CLUB TRYOUTS!!!!!!

All-Star Children’s Theater

WHAT? DRAMA!!!!!!!!!

WHEN?

WHERE? TBA

WHO? 4TH AND 5TH GRADE

TIME? 2:30 UNTIL 3:30

Students should be PREPARED to present a 2- minute skit, poem, song, monologue, routine, dance steps, etc. that will demonstrate creativity, originality, and personality. We will be looking for the following:

Poise (how one presents him/herself) examples: Do you have good eye contact? Are you too giggly? Are you calm and prepared? Can we hear you?

Effort (how much time and effort did you put into this? Is it something you’ve already done for something else or have you worked hard to create something new?)

Creative Expression (how well you change your voice, (inflection), and facial expressions in order to make a point or to convince the audience of something)

Creative Thinking ( how original or unique is your presentation?)

While performing a piece of music at the piano is definitely a demonstration of poise, effort and talent, it will not show the creativity and spontaneity we are looking for unless it is used only as a part of a skit or presentation!
