Fall Book Fair

Our Book Fair will be November 13 - 19 in the Media Center.  The Book Fair is always a great opportunity for you and your child to find many great and reasonably priced books!  Students will be getting a flyer with their assigned shopping time.  You may come with your child or send money in an envelope.  Children may shop any day they bring money.  Additionally, we have two Grandparent Days and we will be open on Monday night, November 19th for the PTA meeting.  Thank you in advance to our Book Fair Organizers - and the many parent volunteers!

Fairy Tale Ball

3rd grade students have been studying Fairy Tales in thier classrooms.  They have compared many different versions.  They celebrate the end of this study with a Fairy Tale Ball in the Media Center.

Sr. Seuss's Birthday!

Ogletree Elementary students had a great time participating in Read Across America Week and celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday on Friday, March 2nd.  The teachers made several reading commercials for us and we participated in the Reading Round Up on Friday. Teachers chose a favorite book to share and students traveled to different teachers to listen to the  favorite story.

Book Swaps

Students had a great time participating in the Book Swap!  It was a great way to get new books to read at home.  Students enjoyed turning in their gently used books for Book Bucks.  Then they were able to go shopping!  Thank you, parents for your support of this and other Media Center projects.

Read to Succed!

Thank you to all of our great readers!  We are finished with our February 400 Reading logs and the forms have been turned in.  Our school earned more than 425 Six Flags Tickets by keeping up with their reading.  Mrs. Schnuelle will pass out the tickets when they arrive in May.

Read Across America

We celebrate Read Across America each year in February right before Dr. Seuss's Birthday!  Each year we have contests, a Reading Round up and other fun things that help promote and encourage reading!

Vehicle Day

Each fall the media center sponsors a Vehicle Day for 1st and 2nd graders.  This follows a several week study of transportation and land, air and water vehicles. We usually have 12-15 city and privately owned vehicles for the children to rotate between and learn about different types of vehicles.
