  2. Have your local high school (public or private) join the Alabama Junior Academy of Science. See AJAS regions link for benefits of being a chapter and details on how to apply.  Club Membership Submission Form
  3. Present your work to your high school judges (teachers, local experts, etc.). If your work is deemed satisfactory by the local judges you may qualify to present your work at the regional competition.
  4. Contact your regional counselor (see list below) to sign up for the regional competition in your area and present your work in your regional competition.
    1. Each member school is allowed at least one participant in each of the following areas: Biology, Engineering, Humanities/Behavioral Sciences, Physical Science, and Mathematics/Computer Science. More participants may be allowed to present if the regional counselor deems that the extra participants will not cause the regional symposium to run over time.
    2. The winners in each of the five areas can present their work at the State Symposium.
  5. Your regional counselor submits the names of the five first place presenters to the State Counselor as well as the names of the second and third place finishers in each area.
  6. If you are a first place winner then you complete the two forms on the AJAS Presenter Forms link.  Note there is an additional form for a research grant that is optional.  You will also email an electronic version of your paper and abstract in Word format to Dr. Mark T Jones listed below.

Second and third place winners will be notified by either the regional counselor or the state counselor if they will be allowed to present.
  7. Three hard copies of your paper on paper are needed at the State Presentation.
  8. More information form - if you have any general questions, please submit it and we will add it and a reply to the FAQ page.
