OUR MISSION - To provide middle-school students the opportunity to excel beyond the limitations of a standard Alabama classroom by committing to an in-depth after-school activity which is year-round and six-days-a-week.  Our club model provides students a taste of the real world through competition, accountability and leadership opportunities.  This model includes exploring ways to maximize the number of students significantly affected by AMSSO through the coordination of two schools, Drake Middle School and Auburn Junior High School.  Student success is measured in participation and growth during meetings, practices and competition.  Success will allow a student to move on to the state and national teams in both Science Bowl and Science Olympiad.  Students compete against themselves and their fellow teammates long before regional competitions against other teams.  During the year, students are given many opportunities to take a leadership position by organizing events, assisting event coaches or becoming an event coach.  AMSSO has a legacy of success in both Science Bowl and Science Olympiad and this spills over into our students getting the most out of our community.  Join our club and be ready for real science and a real challenge.  Prepare to to win!  Winning means to prepare, reflect on your successes and failures, grow and try again.  Welcome to the competition of Science!
