We are currently working out of the Connected Math Project (CMP) text series. This is a series developed at Michigan State University. It is a program that encourages a higher level of thinking. Students are encouraged to work cooperatively in groups and apply what they are learning to various real life situations. Students will be challenged to think about what they are doing and develop ways to resolve situations on their own, with teacher supervision. The math content of CMP is very thorough and challenging for the students. The more we work with these types of activities, the better our students will perform on standardized tests and be able to make their own applications to problems they face everyday in life. The type of thinking involved will benefit our students in all facets of their lives. Please visit the CMP website if you have questions. You can also contact me with any questions. The website is www.phschool.com.
Parents: When we work out of CMP, I will usually make copies from the book for the students to use. We do not have enough copies of the student edition for everyone to take one home. By making copies, I can make sure every one has the same access to the materials.
