J. F. Drake Middle School Discipline Point System

2007- 2008

Beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, all Drake students were placed on a discipline point system for discipline infractions and dispositions. Students begin each semester with a total of 100 points. Points were deducted from each student’s total depending on the infractions. This same plan will be continued for the 2007-2008 school year with some minor revisions.

Students who lose all 100 points will not attend school sponsored functions such as field trips, dances, team celebrations, Day at the Park, and any other event deemed appropriate by the school administration. The following is a general breakdown of various point values (other infractions and dispositions may be added by the administration):

Type of Infraction	Point Value
Detention	15-points/ per day
In -School Suspension	70-points/ per placement
Bus Suspension	25-points/ per suspension
Suspension (out of school)	25-points/ per day
Alternative School Placement	200 points (for both semesters)

Students will begin each semester over and start fresh with 100 points. Alternative School placement will earn the 200 points immediately for the year. Any student that has a discipline infraction that spans over both semesters, i.e. suspension and ISS, the total discipline points lost will be split between semesters.

An update of students’ current point totals will be communicated to parents and students through progress reports, report cards, and conferences. You are also welcome to call your child’s assistant principal at anytime to reference your student’s points. If your student is in the 6^th grade, please contact Mrs. Resa. If your student is in the 7^th grade, please contact Mr. Johnson.

Our goal is for all students to participate in school functions. It is our hope that each student will make the correct choices so that he/she may be included in all of the wonderful extra activities and celebrations.
