Sixth Grade

Course Objectives

In this course students will...

  • learn how to communicate basic information in German, Spanish, and French.

  • know where each language is spoken.                                                           

  • recognize some of the cultural practices and products of the countries studied, for example, holidays, celebrations, and food.

  • learn through music and other hands-on activities.

  • have fun, and will want to continue their foreign language study.

Course Objectives

In this course students will...

  • learn how to communicate basic information about themselves to others in German, Spanish, and French.

  • be able to recognize and locate the countries that speak these languages and locate them on a map.

  • identify similarities and differences between English and a foreign language.

  • understand the word cognate and be able to identify cognates in each language.

  • compare cultural practices and products from the German-, Spanish-, and French-speaking countries to those of America.

  • develop an appreciation for learning a foreign language and a desire to continue foreign language study.

  • be able to make an educated choice concerning which language they would like to continue studying.
