Missy Moo Updates

Update 1
September 13th

Missy Moo's milk production was last measured on September 5, 2006, and she gave 67.5 pounds of milk that day.  That's nearly 8 gallons, or 125 cups of milk she made in one day's time.  Her milk production ranked 39th out of 168 cows.  Since she gave birth to her heifer calf on August 27th, she has given over 843 total pounds of milk, which means she has made more than 34,540 pounds of milk in her lifetime!

Name those Calves!
Over the last few weeks, several new baby heifers have been born and we would like you to help us name some of them!  If you would like to suggest a name for GDF 634 (daughter of GDF 265-Buttercup), GDF 638 (daughter of GDF 211-MissyMoo), or for GDF 643 (daughter of GDF 226-SallyJo), please email your suggestions to webmaster@gilmerdairyfarm.com.  Don't forget to include your name on the email.  We will post the winning suggestions next month.
Teachers, feel free to include suggestions from several students.

Update 2
October 27th

Missy Moo's milk production was last measured on October 12, 2006, and she gave 92 pounds of milk that day.  That's nearly 11 gallons of milk she gave on that day. Only six cows out of 165 gave more milk than her on the test day.  She has given over 4540 total pounds of milk since she gave birth to her heifer calf on August 27th.  Since she gave birth to her first calf in 2004, she has given a total of 38,240 pounds (4,446.5 gallons) of milk.

Last month we asked you to help us name a few of our new heifer calves.  We received several suggestions, and have decided on the following:  GDF 634 "DaisyLee", GDF 638 "LillyLoo", and GDF 643 "Tabitha".  We thank everyone who sent in suggestions!

Update 3
December 31st

Missy Moo's milk production was last measured on December 21, 2006, and she gave 83.3 pounds of milk that day, which ranked her 51th out of 189 cows.  She has given over 10,293 total pounds of milk since she gave birth to her calf on August 27, and has given over 44,000 pounds (5116 gallons) of milk in her lifetime.

Update 4

In her lifetime, she has made a total of: 50,416 pounds of milk, which is more than one milk truck can haul at one time

There have been lots and lots of baby heifer calves born on the farm over the past month, and once again we could use your help coming up with names for some of them.  Here are the three calves we would like you to help us name:
