1st Grade
Vincent Van Gogh Sunflowers Study
 |

Students cut various sizes of circles to create their
flowers. A symmetrical vase was made and decorated with a pattern. |

Marker stems and seeds were made for each flower.
Tempera paint was added to make petals. Oil pastels set the background
color to complete this masterpiece. |

2nd
Grade
Georges Rouault Study
 |

Rouault was a painter that used a heavy black line
around his richly painted colors. Students drew and colored insects in his
style. |

The background space was broken into more spaces to look
more like stain glass. Rouault's early training was in stain glass. Oil
pastel was used to create these rich colors in their work. |

3rd Grade
Henri Matisse Study
 |

Students created a fish bowl using oil pastels.
Using construction paper they created space on their page by overlapping
plants, a table and other items they cut out. |

The background was made like Matisse would work using
makers to create a brightly colored pattern. |
|
4th Grade
Andy Warhol Study

Students studied about Warhol's use of repeated images
as an important part of the Pop Art style he is known so well for.

5th Grade
Henri Rousseau Study

|

A watercolor background was made to build the jungle on.
Oil pastel was used to color an animal that was drawn from a
photograph/magazine page. It was cut out and placed in the jungle scene. |

Animals cleverly hide in the oil pastel jungles and
behind the wonderful cut shapes of construction paper leaves and plants in
the students fantasy jungle - just like Rousseau's work. |
