                   Guidance Counseling Services Offered

                        Classroom Guidance

            These lessons will be presented twice a month for first and second grades and once a month     
            for third, fourth and fifth grades. The lessons will cover a variety of areas of importance in    
            helping students learn about themselves and others in developing personal and interpersonal  
            skills.

                       Small Group Counseling

           Small group counseling is provided for students experiencing similar needs. These may include  
           social skills, anger management, academics success, family changes (moving, separation, 
           divorce, and death), interpretations of standardized test peer relationship and others.

                       Individual Counseling

           Individual counseling is an important element of the counseling program. The counselors are   
          available for all students. Students may self-refer or be referred to the counselors by teachers  
          and/ or parents. Confidentiality is respected.

                       Referral

                       Students may refer themselves for counseling services at school. They may tell a teacher or   
                       administrator they need to see Mrs. Dix, they may tell Mrs. Dix directly or they may leave a 
                       note  in a box beside her door. Parents and teachers may also refer students for counseling   
                       services by contacting Mrs. Dix. Parents are always welcomed to come by or called at   
                       887-4943

                       Confidentially

                       School counselors are held to the same strict confidentiality standards as other professional     
                       counselors. Issues shared in a student and/parent counseling session will remain confidential   
                       except for the following three reasons. If someone is harmful to self, harmful to others, or maybe 
                       harmful by someone else.
