Report on Henry and the Clubhouse
Henry was a boy who was very weird because when he tried to think he stuck his head in the refrigerator. He thinks and is bored and he remembers that he has to do his paper route. But he decides to build something instead, so he goes outside to find some lumber. He sees that the neighbors are taking out a bathtub and putting in a trailer. Henry helps out and he gets to ride in the trailer in the bathtub off to the junk yard. Then he remembers he has to do his paper route so he goes back home to do his paper route.
He finds some wooden boxes and he also finds a man who is tearing down his garage to build a new one. The man lets Henry have the old lumber and the windows and the door. Henry starts building a clubhouse with some help from his two friends. His friends work on the clubhouse while Henry is gone on his paper route. They finish and make a sign that says "No Girls Allowed".
Henry got a stuffed owl at Halloween because a woman didn't have any candy and give it to him for trick or treat. He put it in the clubhouse. Henry comes home one day and finds that they owl's eyes are crossed. He fixes them. The next day, he walks home and finds the owl's eyes crossed and a cigarette in his mouth. He fixes it again. The third day, he finds the owl's eyes crossed again, and it is wearing a sign that says "Down With Boys" and a pink bonnet. The boys lock the clubhouse with a padlock and hide the key under a pot. But Ramona locks Henry in the clubhouse. Beezus unlocks the door to let Henry do his paper route.
Henry always gets pestered by Ramona. Ramona loves the TV show "Sheriff Bud". Henry writes a letter to Sheriff Bud asking him to tell her to stop pestering him. One day he comes over to Beezus's house to play checkers while Ramona is watching Sheriff Bud. Sheriff Bud tells Ramona to stop pestering Henry on the TV show. Then she gets in trouble with her mom and has to stop pestering. At the end of the book he becomes happy because a girl named Ramona stops pestering him and he does a good job on his paper route.
I think both boys and girls would like this book, because it tells about
girls and boys and their troubles
My
Favorite Character from the Book Henry and the Clubhouse
My favorite character was Henry because he was brave and was responsible. He had a job that was a paper route and that was a big responsibility. In winter in the book there was a foot of snow. He would throw the paper and it would sink in the snow. He dug the paper out of the snow and rang the doorbell and gave it to the person so they would not have to dig for it in the snow. That's responsibility. I don't have much responsibility but I wish I did.
In winter when Ramona was following him, she got tired, and her feet were hurting, and she was cold. When Ramona started pouting and was hurt, he took his sled, put her on it and started dragging her home. That was consideration for others because he took time off his paper route to save her from standing in the cold.
