The AU Theater Department visited us and gave us a wonderful performance of Horton Hears a Who! Our first through third graders were enthralled with the performance and heartily applauded and cheered when the performance was over. A huge thank you to mom, Daydrie Hague, for allowing her theater students to be a part of our Seussical Day!!
The Seuss Cafe' was a resounding success!!! So many parents, guest readers, and art student volunteers made the day so wonderful. Our fifth graders are to be commended for being great host and hostesses, waiters, waitresses, busboys, and busgirls. They did a fantastic job!! Since the celebration was part of Read Across America and Read to a Kid Day, we did just that!! Every child in the building was read to either in the cafe, in their classroom, or as part of a performance. It was truly a wubbulous, wackiful, wonderful day in true Seuss spirit!!
Seussical the Musical, under the direction of music teacher Laurie Gilbreath, was wacky and wild tribute to all things Seuss! Our first and second graders performed many wonderful songs from the Broadway show, Seussical the Musical and from The Cat in the Hat songbook! A crazy dance performance by The Cat in the Hat with a little help from Thing One and Thing Two kicked off the show. After the musical which included readings, Seuss trivia, and the Reader's Oath, our school-wide Read-a-thon winners were announced and a eye-popping check was presented to our playground chairperson. After the huge check was presented a little promise from Ms. Spencer was fulfilled with a little pig kissin'!! The students had a blast and were so proud of themselves for all their hard work reading and collecting pledges!
