Mile Club
Miss. Ann, our wonderful intern from the University started the Mile Club the beginning of April. We divided each class into teams of 5 and set the goal of accumulating enough mileage to make it to either Montgomery (56 mile) (4th and 5th) or Tuskegee (36miles) (3rd and 2nd). First graders ran as a class and were trying to make it to Montgomery.
If you were wondering what the dots on the hands were, they were for each lap ran. 5 Laps on the field = 1 mile and 5 laps in the gym = 1 lap on the field. What a great opportunity to use math to calculate mileage ran. How many miles to Montgomery? How many laps on the field to Montgomery? How many laps inside = 1 mile? If your team ran a combined 28 laps on the field, how many miles did your team run? etc.
Below are the teams that have made it to their goals. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
