GLOBAL FINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On May 22nd, our team departed for Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee. We celebrated a week of creativity with teams from around the world. Pin trading was hot and heavy and by the end of the week we were seasoned pin traders. On Friday, May 25th, we competed in our division. On Saturday, at Closing Ceremonies we were disappointed when we were not among the top six that were announced. After returning to our dorms for an impromtu pizza party we were elated to discover that we had acutally scored EIGHTH in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! High fives and screams could be heard throughout the rooms of Massey Hall! We were very proud of our Cary Team and look forward to another opportunity to showcase our creativity at next year's Destination Imaginations Competitions!!! A special thank you to our parents for all their help and support! We couldn't have done it without you!!

Destination Imagination State Winners!!!!!!!!!!!
Our team of seven great kids (Sam, Carly, Kim, Brittany, Grace, Lauren and Keegan) are now going to Global Finals at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville!!! On Saturday, March 3, they traveled to the regionals at Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham and won! Then they took their act on the road again to Tuscaloosa Middle school on March 17th and they did it again even better!!!!
Their challenge is shown below as well as pictures of our great day. They did an awesome job and we are so proud of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our Challenge: What would happen if Steven Spielberg were at a pet show at the Leaning Tower of Pisa, where a Sumo wrestler was showing off his flea circus, and suddenly the fleas picked up the wrestler and carried him off?You tell us, as you create DInamic Improv! In this Challenge, back by popular demand, the players experience the fun of true Improvisation as they create a performance in a very short period of time. The goal of this Improvisational Challenge is to think and act in the moment, with little or no rehearsal and no pre-planned scripts.
Challenge Requirements: In the months prior to competition, a team prepares research on items in each of three categories: Famous Innovators, Cultural Performers, and Important World Landmarks. The team will not know which items they will develop into a performance until the Tournament. The team members will bring nine items to be used as their only props.
On Tournament day, the team will select one Scenario, as well as one item from each of the categories above, by a random draw.
Within a period of thirty minutes, the team will blend research, props, and its Scenario into a fantastic Improv performance. Two minutes prior to Show Time, the team will receive a Surprising Turn of Events and a Character Action Choice that must also be incorporated into the Improv. If you enjoy "thinking on your feet," then this is the Challenge for you!
For State we drew Rachel Carson, Swiss Yodelers, and the Kremlin in Russia!
For regionals we drew Lao-Tse (a Chinese philosopher), Rodeo Riders of America, and The Statue of Liberty!
