Instant

(5-7

Listening to the beat. Demonstrate
three tempos and give
each tempo a designated movement.
One tempo represents a run, one represents a walk and one represents
jumping (may have to demonstrate jumping.)
The lack of sound means no movement.
Have the students stand and prepare to move according to the tempo.
Lesson
Focus:
-Have the students find a rope and stretch it out long on the floor.
Jump over it keeping both feet together.
Practice several times.
-Have the students hold one handle in each hand and form a U- shape in
front of them. The bottom of the U should be touching the ground.
Now jump over the U and then throw the rope over your head.
Now make the U- shape again. Repeat
several times. Practice
the throw, stop, look down at U-shape, and jump over…
-Put the rope away and get a yarn ball from the wall.
Then sit down in "personal space."
B) Beginning throwing-
-While sitting down, make your yarn ball go in an upward direction, but
only as high as you can reach. Practice
this several times.
-Can you stand and throw the yarn ball in a downward direction?
Try it a gain.
-Can you throw your yarn ball in a forward direction
and follow it? Throw it and follow it, etc.
Cue: point, throw
-Can you throw into an open space? Try
throwing into an area where nothing or no one is.
-Can you find something on the wall and throw at it?
Cue: look at target.
Practice
throwing at a target several times. How
many times can you hit your target? What
are you looking at when you are throwing at a something?
-Now put the yarn ball up where you got it and sit near the teacher.
