Hold us accountable.  We must take responsibility and prove our programs worth.  If we create a valid curriculum, then we will be taken more serious.  It is our job to do so!

“Making a substantive commitment to the subject matter, that is what we are missing!”

(Make a commitment to select a subject matter of value.  To the students, community, and education itself.  Make your content more than roll out the ball.  More than here star athlete, you choose teams.  Make the commitment to teach!  Make the dedication to encourage and relate to the students.  It is quite strenuous, but once established a good program is easy to maintain.)

            “Less is More.”

(Focus on a more selective content area.  Avoid over loading students with tons of skills, which they do not have the opportunity to become proficient at.  Rather, have a selective content  that will encompass many general skills. )

            “Fuller & Deeper.”

(Go more in depth and cover new content area.  PE is not just games!  Show the correlation between fitness and healthy habits to the present and the future.  Explore more than the play aspect of a sport.  Look at the teamwork,  responsibilities, officiating, sportsmanship, rules, history, strategy, leadership, and so on.)

                “Value Oriented.”

(Is the material appropriate, enjoyable, and attainable.  Is the content   valid and reliable.  Does the teacher truly hold value to the subject matter?  Do the   students, community, or national standards committees see the content as quality    material?)

            “Have to show substantive outcomes.”

(This requires significant student challenge, thus has to be meaningful to the students.  Program must also hold students accountable.  Give responsibilities and grade upon the ability to stand accountable.)

            “Prove it!”

(Show that the students are demonstrating & developing the knowledge and skills taught. Record and provide assessments of student work and achievements.  Select materials that appropriately convey the information you desire.)
