Mrs. Cutler’s Class News

Let me take a few moments to tell you that I am really enjoying the
class. The children are settling down into a good routine and adjusting to
our daily schedule. Fact is
they are helping me when I forget to do something.
I am working very hard on teaching the children to being
responsible for their belongings, taking care of their lunch needs and
remembering our daily routine. Shared
Reading~
This week and next week, we will be reading books on numbers-- one to
ten. We are learning to recognize the number and the number word. We will
practice writing numbers next week. Shared
Journal~
We
are still sharing for our journal stories.
Many of the children are starting to write the beginning sounds in
words that they are using in their stories.
Thank
you~ I
want to thank all the parents who have donated many items for our
classroom. I am so
appreciative of your generous donations.

Theme
Development~
This
week, we have been learning our phone number and address. We have read
books about houses and learned phone etiquette.
I was surprised how quickly the children learned their phone
number. Usually it takes a
week to learn our number phone. Many children knew their phone number the
first day. We are in the
process of making a class phone book. Please help your child to learn both
their phone number and address. This week, we also have graphed all the
children’s birthdays on our monthly cupcake wall
Math~
We
are noticing number patterns in our daily calendar activities. Starting
next month, the children will have to write the date on their calendar in
the front of their journals. This
is great practice for writing numbers.
