Shared Reading-

This week, we read several books with “I Like…” in the title.  We made a list of things that we like and drew pictures to illustrate our likes. That has become our second class book this year.  We have talked about illustrators and authors of books and what their roll is making a book.  This is a good way to communicate what each one does with a book.

Shared Journal-

We started sharing this week for our journal stories.  The children are becoming great illustrators. I am focusing on getting the details of the story in their drawings.  I am encouraging the children to use all of their crayons to produce colorful pictures.  When we read stories we discuss the colorful illustrations so they will realize that not everything is one color.

Theme Development~

We have continued our focus on learning our names, colors, and color words.  We are busy working on our Brown Bear Booklet.  When we finish next week it will be sent home in their Friday folders.  Please let your child read their book to you.  The children are very proud that they can read it.  Next week, we will be working on learning our phone numbers, address, and birthday.  Please help your child with this task.

Math-

We are noticing number patterns in our daily calendar activities. All of our journals will have a monthly calendar that the children will have to write the number of the day.  This is great practice for writing numbers.

Needs-

  • Hand sanitizer.    If anyone would be willing to send some, I would appreciate it. I have hand soap. J
  • Hula Hoops, jump ropes, and chalk, our patio area is bare.  Mrs. Conover sent in some jump ropes and chalk, the children loved them.
  • Cereal or crackers for snack in case a child forgets his snack.
