Our Flight to Hawaii
After researching the different ways that we could travel to Hawaii, our pod decided to fly!  With that decision made, we got straight to work building our airplane and packing our suitcases!

We had a pilot come and talk to our class.  He told us about the different parts of an airplane.

Everyone wanted to get a picture taken with Mr. Penn.

We had to do a lot of research to learn about airplanes and airports.

One group is presenting their research to the class.

Our class chose to make the fuselage.  We signed up for the jobs that we wanted to do and got to work.

Laura is measuring the length of the fuselage.

The girls are making the windows and putting them on the plane.

Another group made the seatbelts so that we could fly safely.

The wing builders decided to use cardboard boxes to make the wings and flaps.

Our finished plane looked great!

The day of the Flight

Everyone packed their suitcases and filled out their luggage tags.

Before we board, the mechanics check the plane.  They want to make sure that our plane is safe to fly.

The catering service prepares our in-flight snack.

We are waiting in line at the ticket counter.

Our ticket agents.

We earned the money for our tickets by doing research, making our suitcases and building the fuselage.

The airport security officers checked every suitcase.

They even checked some of the passengers.

The flight attendants showed greeted everyone as they boarded the plane.

While the passengers were boarding, the baggage handlers loaded the luggage into the cargo hold.

When everyone was on board, the plane was guided to the runway.

The control tower gave the clearance to take off.

The pilot and co-pilot prepare us for flight.

The flight attendants pass out the snacks.

Everyone settles down for the movie.

When we land, the baggage handler unloads the luggage.

The flight attendants welcome everyone to Hawaii!
