Sanders’
Scribbles

We
have been very busy this week getting to know each other and
learning all about kindergarten. We had our first fire drill on Thursday morning and I am so
proud of how well the children did.
I think we even surprised the fire department because
they couldn’t believe how quickly and quietly the children
exited the building!
These
first three days, we have worked hard to build our classroom
community. To do
this, we have read many books about coming to school, good and
bad choices and making friends.
In fact, one of the books that we read sparked our first
class book. This afternoon, we wrote our own version of We Can Share
At School. I
hope to have the book laminated and ready to share with you
Monday night at Open House.
Over the next few weeks, we will continue to talk about
choices, problem solving and using manners.
This will help us become a community where the children
can learn and
work together in a risk-free environment.
CENTER
TIME
This
week at centers, we worked on learning the center time routines.
We also focused on cleaning up after ourselves and
helping our friends. The
children got opportunities to explore several centers around the
classroom and next week we will add more centers to our routine.
