Sanders’
Scribbles

We came back this week from Spring Break ready to
work! We have been working very hard all week and it has really
flown by! Tuesday we had Walk About Puppets come entertain us with
the play Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The students
really enjoyed watching and we even learned some sign language!
Today we had Lunch at the Beach.
We enjoyed seeing all the parents that came to eat with us,
and we also celebrated Meredith’s birthday!
Morning Meeting
These are the Daily Data questions that we answered
this week.
* What do you want to play at home living center?
* What is your favorite sport?
* What is your favorite flavor ice cream?
* Have you ever been to the beach?
Shared
Journal
In
our journals this week we have been working on thinking of
questions that will help us to write a detailed story.
The children are doing a great job of coming up with lots
of different questions that help add details to their stories. Also, in journals the children have been showing how they
care about one other. They
congratulate both people who share and try to make the person who
didn’t get their story written about feel special.
I am so proud of the community that the children have built
in our classroom.
Theme
We
have been very busy researching and learning about acrobats this
week. We learned
about the different types of acrobats, where acrobats live in the
circus, and about their costumes.
The children have even used some of this information to
start thinking about what the acrobats need for our own circus.
With
Miss Syphers, the children have been busy making their monkeys and
adding a monkey fact page to their Circus books.
Shared
Reading
This
week in Shared Reading we reviewed our short vowels.
We read stories, played games, and learned hand motions to
help us remember the sound that each short vowel makes. Here are
some books we read this week.
Jen
the Hen’s Big Book
Tog
the Dog’s Big Book
Pat
the Cat’s Big Book
Mig
the Pig’s Big Book
Zug
the Bug’s Big Book
We
also worked on story comprehension with the book, Meggie Moon.
Centers
Center time
has been busy, busy, busy!!! The children played new games in math
center, began researching acrobats and started an ice cream glyph. Some of our circus performers have even started making their
own costumes and practicing their routines for our circus.
In puppet center, the children have been busy writing plays
and performing them for the other children.
They even made tickets and held a question and answer
session afterwards about their show. Writing center has been full of aspiring authors this week.
We have had lots of children writing and illustrating their
own books to share with the class.
