Sanders’ Scribbles

Wow! This week has flown by.  We have had a very busy week once again.  We are all ready and excited about our week off for Spring Break.

Morning Meeting

These are the Daily Data questions that we answered this week.

*What is your favorite piece of playground equipment?

*Have you lost a tooth?

*Can you whistle?

Shared Journal

The children are working very hard at including a beginning, middle and end to their story.  They are doing a great job of remembering to put these elements into the story they write every day.

Theme

This week the children have been researching monkeys with our lab student, Miss Syphers. They have been learning about the different types of monkeys and some of the characteristics of each monkey.

This week we also began our study on acrobats.  The children made a list of all the questions they want to answer as they learn about acrobats.  We are looking forward to answering these questions through our research when we come back from Spring Break.

Shared Reading

We read several books by Ezra Jack Keats and have been reviewing our short vowels.  Here are some of the books that we read:

·        Whistle for Willie

·        A Letter for Amy

·        The Snowy Day

·        Pet Show

·        Peter’s Chair

Centers

We have almost completed the construction of our elephant!!!    We also worked hard to finish our elephant fact books and do another page in our math journals. At Art Center, the children also started using newspaper in the pictures they are making just like the author we studied Ezra Jack Keats!
