Sanders’
Scribbles

We have been really
busy for it to have been a short week.
Our class has done a great job turning in money for the
victims of Katrina. I
am so proud to be part of this class.
Centers
This week, we
continued to do chemistry at science center.
We made play-doh each day.
The children had a great time mixing the ingredients and
seeing what happened when heat was added to the mixture.
They used the knowledge they gained last week to mix
different food colors together to make the color play-doh they
wanted. Next week,
they will be using another recipe to make their own play-doh to
take home. Aleks’
mom also brought us some fish and the children have been observing
them and making notes in a classroom log.
Shared
Reading
In Shared Reading, we read lots of books about color.
There are so many good books about color and the children
really enjoyed them. We also made a class graph of our favorite
color and separated M&M’s into colors for a math journal
entry.
Theme
We began our study of
the USA by making a web of things the children already know about
the United States. Some
of the things they listed were:
·
There are states.
(Alabama, Hawaii & Wisconsin)
·
There are cities.
(Auburn & Childersburg)
·
We have a flag.
·
We have a president.
·
The president lives
in a White House.
As you can see, they
already know a great deal. We
also, read some books about the USA and talked about the different
things in our country.
Shared
Journals
The children did a
much better job this week with asking to share.
We have gone from no one sharing to everyone wanting to
share! I am so
excited because they are really getting the process down and doing
a great job. I will
be sending their journals home in a few weeks so that you can see
how great they are doing.
