Sanders’ Scribbles

The weeks keep getting busier and busier!  We have had some really exciting things happening at AEEC!  Wednesday, the children had a visit from a dairy cow and learned about how we get milk!  Thursday morning, Mrs. Nancy talked to us about fruits.  The children learned that grapes turn into raisins when they dry out.

Centers

We did the DIBELS progress monitors this week.  This is just a practice run of the DIBELS test so that we can make sure that the children are progressing as they should.

Shared Reading

Our focus book was Time For Bed by Mem Fox.  With this book, we talked about opposites and rhyming words.  This book was also good for vocabulary development.  We were able to discuss the names of baby animals and how they were similar or different from their parents.

Theme

We had to do some serious problem solving on our construction of Samford Hall.  The children discovered that when we cut the doors out of the boxes that the walls became very unstable.  Because of this, we are trying to find a way to make the windows without having to cut more holes in the boxes.  We will also have to find a way to support the walls so that our building doesn’t fall in on us.

Shared Journals

We are still working hard on the negotiation process.  The children are doing such a good job of persuading their friends.  They are able to state reasons for choosing a particular story.  We have also been working on the discussion forum so that they can state their ideas without my interference.

Important Dates and Notes:

**Thanks for everyone who sent in snacks for our snack center!

**Thanks to Truett and his family for the fish.  Hopefully we will be able to keep them alive.
