Art Center- In this center the children can make their own books. They are encouraged to write a story as well as illustrate it. The children learn to become authors and illustrators and take pride in their hard work. |

| Science Center- In this center the children participate in a variety of different activities. They can explore mixing colors, sink and float activities, using the microscope, or experimenting with magnets. This gives the child valuable experience with the world around them and how it works. They are able to establish cause and effect relationships first hand in this center. | |
| Reading Center~ The children get to choose books to read for enjoyment in this center. They may choose books we have read as a whole group as well as books that we have made as an entire class. There are also many games we have made from activities in shared reading that the children may play. This center helps build valuable literacy skills. | |
| Computer Center~ This center allows the children to practice their computer skills as well as different learning games. They get to use technology to explore phonics and math concepts. The children also like to go on websites of different authors when we do author studies during shared reading. They may even e-mail them. | |
| Math Games~ The children come to this center to play a variety of different math games and work with different types of manipulatives. They may be sorting, counting, or making patterns at this center. This center helps them build logico-mathematical knowledge through games that are meaningful to them instead of rote memorization. | |
| Smartboard Center~ In this center the children explore things the class is learning about at that time. We may use the smart board to find information that we need for a project. It allows the children to view the website as an entire class. The children learn how to use technology to find information they need. | |
| Big Book Center~ This center allows the children to read and explore the big books we read during shared reading as well as the chants. The get to interact with the books with each other and become experts on their favorites stories. | |
| Homeliving Center~ The children learn valuable social and negotiating skills in this center each day. They also learn how to role play. The social skills learned in this center are vitally important to kindergartners and prepare them for success in the future. |
