The Making Of Kilauea

Kilauea is an active volcano on the island of Hawaii

         Frst we mejrd a carpet rol to se how tol to mak the vent.  Then we pusht papr in to the carpet rol to mak magmu.

(First we measured a carpet roll to see how tall to make the vent.  Then we pushed paper into the carpet roll to make the magma.)

We uzd cla to mac the magmu at the botum uv the vent.  Aftr the cla drid we patid it red.

(We used clay to make the magma at the bottom of the vent.  After the clay dried we painted it red.)

We are makeing the plats for the volcano.  We tapt pesas uv korbord toogathr.  Sum plas push daoun uthr plas and mak a hol for magmu.

(We are  making the plates for the volcano.  We taped pieces of cardboard together.  Some plates push down other plates and  make a hole for magma.)

The outsid uv our volcano wuz mad out uv krdbord.  We r uzing a yrdstec to mezur hw tol the krdbord nedz to be.

(The outside of our volcano was made out of cardboard.  We are using a yardstick to measure how tall the cardboard needs to be.)

We are making the busolt rocks.  Frst we droow lins on crdbord so we wud no wer to bind the crdbord.  Sekit we bint the crdbord and tapt it to mak it sta to gethr.  thrd we pantid the crdbord gra. 

(We are making the basalt rocks.  First we drew lines on cardboard so we would know where to bend the cardboard.  Second we bent the cardboard and taped it to make it stay together.  Third we painted the cardboard grey.)  

We hept mac the  lovu that cumz out uv the volcano.  We hept Mrs. Mitchell spra the fom out uv a can.  Thin we patid the dri fom red. 

(I helped make the lova that comes out of the volcano.  I helped Mrs. Mitchell spray the foam out of the can.  Then we painted the dried foam red.)
