Welcome to Africa

Each year, Blue Pod teachers choose an overall theme to study for the year.  This year, we will travel to Africa!  Through our theme, we teach all academic disciplines.  We use project work to document what we are learning.  Projects are representations of what the children are learning.  Project work is the process of creating the project.  Below you will see a window into theme for the year.  Enjoy!

The beginning of our theme...

We learned that we live in the U.S.A.  Our country is on the continent of North America.

Africa is a separate continent, and it is all the way across the Atlantic Ocean!

We learned all about different types of transportation, and we voted to travel  on a cruise liner to Africa.

During theme each day, we are learning about cruise liners, and we are making a list of all the things we need for our trip.

We definitely need a cruise ship!!  Our class is in charge of building the ship's bridge.

What part of Africa do we want to visit first?  We learned about the different geographical areas in Africa before we voted on our choice - the Sahara Desert.
