General Information for Parents

Transportation

 *IMPORTANT*:  Make sure that you notify Mrs. Sisson if your child's afternoon transportation changes.  We want to make sure your child gets home safely.
Daily Schedule Our school day begins at 7:45 and ends at 1:50.  Children may arrive at school no earlier than 7:15.  If your child is absent from school, he or she needs to bring an excuse when they return to school.
Meal Money Money for meals will be accepted each morning when the children come into school.  All of the money is sent to the office.  Money should be in an envelope with your child's name, lunch number, and teacher's name on the envelope.  Please remind your child to turn in lunch money first thing in the morning.  Please make checks payable to AEEC Child Nutrition Program.  We welcome parents for lunch but please let us know in advance so that we can order a lunch for you.  Look for reminders or bills in your child's take home folder.
Breakfast Breakfast is served from 7:15 to 7:35 in the gallery.  If your child is going to eat, please get him or her to school in plenty of time to be served.
Lunch menu I will send home a monthly lunch menu in your child's Friday Folder.  It is also posted on our school website.
Snack Students will be given an opportunity to eat a snack before lunchtime.  Please send a healthy daily snack for your child to school.  Suggestions for snack are fruit, cut vegetables, dry cereal, crackers, granola bars, pretzels, juice boxes, or bottled water.  Please do not send candy, cookies, or other desserts.
Rest time Your child will need a towel for rest time. Please label the towel clearly with your child's name and send it to school at the beginning of the week.  We do not have adequate storage for anything other than a towel.  No pillows, mats, etc., please.  We will send it home every Friday to be cleaned and sent back on Monday.
Play clothes School is a very active, constructive place where children are afforded many opportunities to choose and participate in projects.  Paint, paper mache, glue, plaster of paris, etc., can sometimes ruin clothing, no matter how careful a teacher is to remind children to wear paint shirts.  Please do not send your child to school in clothing that they cannot get dirty.
Change of clothes Because we are involved in so many activities each day, there are times when children may have a spill or an accident and need a change of clothes.  Please send your child a pair of play clothes in a plastic bag or a large ziploc bag with his or her name on it to keep here at school.  It will make these instances easier for your child.
Birthdays Birthdays are special days, and they will not be overlooked in our classroom.  If you would like to send muffins, crackers, or fruit to our class to eat in celebration, please send of call to arrange your child's special day.  Please do not send cupcakes or frosted cookies.
Friday Folders Friday Folders are a way for the school to send information home to parents.  In this folder you will find important information and our class weekly newsletter.  This is where you will find dates and times of upcoming events.  Friday Folders will be sent home on Fridays.  Please return them on Monday.  Also, please check your child's backpack daily.
