Auburn High School Band Alumni Profiles:
Rebecca Jemian

Rebecca Jemian was a member of the Auburn High School Band from 1973-75, and currently performs with the Chicago Bassoon Quartet, as well as being professor of music theory and bassoon at the Ithaca Conservatory of Music in New York. While at Auburn High, she qualified for a spot in the Alabama Bandmasters All-State Red Band twice, sitting first chair Red Band her senior year.

After graduating from Auburn High, Jemian attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and subsequenty received her Masters of Music from the University of Texas in Austin, and her Ph.D. in music theory from Indiana University. Jemian has also been the principal bassoonist with the Orquesta sinfonica de Mineria in Mexico City and the Symphony of Southeast Texas, as well as holding positions with the Louisville Bach Society Orchestra. Jemian has been on music faculty at the University of Louisville, Lamar University, the University of Houson, North Park College, Indiana University, and the University of Texas at Austin, and was past editor of the Indiana Theory Review, as well as writing program notes for the Louisville and Chicago Symphony Orchestras.
