Hall Pass:            Only one person may leave the room at time.  You must sign out noting your name, destination, time-out and time-back.  You must take the hall pass before leaving the room.
Grades:

Your grade for each semester will be based on a total accumulation of points, not percentages.

Example: Points Earned ÷ Points Available = Semester Grade
Late Work: Major assignments: 10-point penalty per day (including the alternating day you are not in my class); NO MAJOR ASSIGNMENT will be accepted after three days; extenuating circumstances will have to be discussed during an in-school conference with parent(s), student, and me.

Homework: Late homework will not be accepted without an excused absence; all homework is due when the student returns to school (even if the student is not scheduled for my class on that day).

If you are absent…

It is your responsibility to make up any work and/or tests missed because of personal and /or school related excused absences.  You may only receive credit for make-up work if your absence is excused.  If your absence is not excused, you will receive a zero on all tests, quizzes, and homework that you miss.  You can find out what you missed by

1.  checking w/ your team members

2. checking the "Make-up Work" files that are located on the bulletin board

3. asking me before or after class (not during).

If you miss a test…           All make-up tests will be given before or after school.  You must schedule an appointment with me to make up a test.  A make-up test will cover the same content material as the original test; however, the format of the make-up test will not be the same as the one given in class on test day.
Assignments: Assignments, which will be turned in for a grade: must be written on the front side only in blue or black ink and completed on loose-leaf paper or the assigned handout. You may use pencil for note taking, prewriting, and rough drafts.
Out-of-class writing assignments (essays, papers, etc. ): must be typed using a standard 12-point font and they must be double-spaced.  Please follow the MLA guidelines for format style (headings, titles, and margins).  Please staple your papers in the top left corner.  I do not want binders or report covers.

Daily Journal Assignment: A journal assignment will be given at the beginning of each class EVERY day. You will be given about 10-15 minutes to respond to the journal prompt.  Each journal entry must be a minimum of a ˝ page. (Of course, you may write more. J Journal entries count as 2 points each.  You will turn all entries in around every 9 – 10 days.  (So…10 x 2 points ea. = 20 points)

Plagiarism              Plagiarism is using the work of another person and passing it off as your own without proper documentation or credit of the original source.  It can involve something as small as a sentence or as large as an essay.  If you use another person’s work or ideas, make sure to properly document your source.  Instances of plagiarism will be automatically referred to the office, and you will receive a zero for the work.
