Course
Description: Students
will participate in classroom and laboratory experiences utilizing current and
emerging technology in Mass Media. Students will be expected to have an
understanding of Journalism, speak in front of audiences both large and small,
and work well as a part of a team. Students will learn to write
effectively for a television audience, learning to write for the eye and the
ear. They will be expected to learn about, operate, and manage camera,
film editing, wardrobe, and scheduling. They will create television
shorts, news stories, commercials, promotional videos, and video specials.
As students advance in the program, they will produce regularly scheduled
programs for the school and/or community. A Mass Media course will provide
an introduction to television broadcasting, public speaking, Broadcast
Journalism, and Advertising. Prerequisites:
Journalism and teacher recommendation
