STUDIO DIRECTOR

In the studio:

The director runs the broadcast and sends verbal cues to each position. The cameras, switching, audio, titling, and news operation reflects the control operations of the director.  The director works with the producer on storyboarding.  The director makes sure that filming occurs between 8:00 and 8:30.  The director updates the Infocaster scripts daily.

 

In the newsroom:

Once the director has finished filming for the day, s/he will become a reporter in the classroom, working on highlights or advisory stories, or perhaps the final project.

 

If you are in this role, you will be graded on the following:

  • Student will learn aspects of management and leadership
  • Student will be exposed to multitasking and pressure handling
  • Student will be responsible for producing a show that fits time constraints and controlling a group that can follow timing
  • Student will be subjected to decision making and answering and directing questions from other team members
  • Student will learn and adapt problem solving skills
  • Student will take responsibility for maintaining and keeping up with equipment.
  • Student will storyboard for all shows.
