BEAT REPORTER: Clubs

(2-3 people)

 

Job description:

Beat reporters will maintain regular contact with their beats to gather information for stories and help advertise for Tiger TV.  The beat reporters write/read out and present news stories/highlights on camera.  Beat reporters will be responsible for setting the stage for interviews by utilizing background, props, lighting, and camera effects/angels for each story.  The beat reporters will transfer okayed scripts to whiteboards for the shoot.  The beat reporters will film, edit, and transfer stories to the broadcast team in a timely fashion.  Beat reporters are responsible for having their stories in the can by deadline.  Beat reporters are responsible for generating news when it is not happening.  Beat reporters will receive zeros if they are not actively working on stories for Tiger TV.

 

If you are in this role, you will be graded on the following:

  • Student(s) will gather information for stories by interviewing/researching topic
  • Student(s) will write script for stories
  • Student(s) will have scripts okayed by publicist before taking to camera
  • Student(s) will read stories on camera with the help of whiteboards
  • Student(s) will be responsible for reading and familiarizing (or even memorizing) news scripts before stories
  • Student(s) will be responsible for the look of the shot and the look of the area in the shot
  • Student(s) will dress appropriately for stories according to the Tiger TV dress code
  • Student(s) will gain confidence for speaking on camera
  • Student(s) will submit video that is steady, appropriately zoomed, and well-rehearsed/spoken
  • Student(s) will perfect editing film
  • Student(s) will meet deadlines
