Advanced Endorsements

Students may enhance their Auburn High School academic experience by pursuing either of two additional endorsements: the Advanced Academic or the Advanced Career/Technical. Following successful completion of the endorsement requirements, graduates will receive an official designation stamped on their transcript. This designation will serve as verification of their completion of advanced high school coursework. All students are highly encouraged to pursue this additional challenge. The requirements  for each are listed below:

Auburn High School Diploma with Advanced Academic Endorsement

English 5 credits
Mathematics - Must include Algebra II w/ Trig and at least one additional higher level math 4 credits
Science - Must include at least two of the following: Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy, IB/AP Biology or IB/AP Chemistry 4 credits
Social Studies 4 credits
Physical Education 1 credit
Health Education 1/2 credit
Fine Arts 1/2 credit
Business Technology Essentials (Computer Applications)

 

1 credit
Foreign Language - Same language, one credit may be earned in 8th grade 3 credits
Electives 5 credits

 

Auburn High School Diploma with Advanced Career/Technical Endorsement

English 5 credits

Students may earn both the Advanced/Academic and Advanced Career/Technical endorsements concurrently, if they meet both requirements (3 career/technical credits and 3 foreign language credits).

 

Special Education (By placement)

Any student enrolled in Special Education will have three options concerning a course of study.

A.  Students may enroll in an academic course of   study aimed at obtaining an Alabama High School Diploma.

B.  Students may enroll in an occupational course of study aimed at obtaining an Alabama Occupational Diploma (AOD). The student must have an approved portfolio. The primary postgraduate goal for students enrolled in the occupational course of study is competitive employment. The requirements for the Alabama Occupational Diploma are as follows:

English 4 credits
Mathematics 4 credits
Science 4 credits
Social Studies 4 credits
Career/Technical Education 2 credits
*Cooperative Career/Technical Education 1 credit
Health Education 1/2 credit
Physical Education 1 credit
Fine Arts 1/2 credit
Electives 7 credits
                              Total credits    28 credits

*May be part of the two credits for Career/Technical Education. The designated one credit for Cooperative Education will then be added to the electives, making a total of eight electives.

Effective with the Class of 2007: Students pursuing the Alabama Occupational Diploma who pass all sections of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam are eligible to receive a standard Auburn High School diploma upon graduation. Students pursuing the Alabama Occupational Diploma who pass the GED test may request to transfer their AOD core course credits to the Alabama Alternate Adult High School Diploma.

C.  Students may obtain a Graduation Certificate and participate in graduation with completion of an I.E.P. or satisfactory completion of 28 credits.
