SCHOOL-COMMUNITY INTERACTION
The Board recognizes the importance of effective interaction between the schools and the communities they serve. This interaction is essential in enabling the schools to provide educational programs and services that meet the needs of the community while ensuring the continued operation of all facets of the population.
Parent Advisory Committees/Councils
· Title I Advisory Council
As required by state and federal regulations, a Title I Advisory Council must serve the Title I school. The Council will meet at least annually to make recommendations, within federal, state and local guidelines, for meeting the educational needs of Title I students.
· Career Technical Education
A Career Technical Education Council will meet periodically to assist in planning the vocational program of the system. Representatives from businesses and industries in the immediate area will comprise the membership of this committee. The primary purpose will be to ensure that vocational offerings in the schools are compatible with the existing job market in the area.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Efforts will be made to maintain open lines of communication between the schools and the parents of the students in the Auburn City Schools. The most effective method is through individual teacher-parent conferences. Conferences will be made available to all parents.
All schools will hold "open houses" and room meetings at least once a year to acquaint parents and other interested citizens with the activities of the school.
Individual parent-teacher conferences will be held at times set by individual schools. The Conferences will be scheduled at times that will not interfere with instructional sessions.
