FIREARMS AND OTHER WEAPONS

 

Personnel, other than the exceptions noted below, are prohibited from bringing or possessing any deadly weapon or dangerous instrument on school property. Deadly weapons and dangerous instruments adapted for the purposes of inflicting death or serious physical injury; and such terms include, but are not limited to, a pistol, rifle, or shotgun, or switch-blade knife, gravity knife or stiletto; or any club, baton, billy, black-jack, bludgeon or metal knuckles. In addition to law enforcement penalties, personnel who violate this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action. Examples of possible sanctions include referral to appropriate law enforcement authorities, warning letters, reprimands, suspensions, poor job performance evaluations, and dismissal. The Superintendent shall be notified immediately of any violations of this policy, and the principal/supervisor shall take appropriate action.

Authorized law enforcement personnel on official duty are exempt from this policy.
