POLITICAL ACTIVITY

 

School employees are prohibited from exerting pressure or attempting to influence students or other employees relative to political activities and decisions.

The following guidelines are adopted to implement this policy:

  • Promoting or engaging in partisan political activities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  •             § encouraging students to adopt or support a particular political position, party, or  candidate; or

                § using school property or materials to advance the support of a particular position, party or candidate.

  • No person shall use or promise to use official authority to secure for any person an appointment or advancement to a position in the Auburn City Schools for the purpose of influencing a vote or political action.

  • Nothing in this policy should be construed to limit school or class activities by students or recognized student organizations designed to address, discuss and promote participation in current political affairs. Such activities shall provide an opportunity for by-partisan participation of all students. School employees may serve as advisors or sponsors for such activities and organizations as authorized and approved within the existing relevant policy for student organizations and activities.
