SCHOOL CALENDAR

The Superintendent shall prepare, or cause to be prepared, a yearly calendar for the school system. Parents, teachers, and principals shall have an opportunity to participate in the planning of this calendar. The calendar shall be reviewed and subject to approval by the Board not later than the regular April Board meeting.

The calendar shall include the dates of the beginning and ending of the school term, the number of days to be taught and dates of all holidays for students and staff. The length of the calendar for certified personnel will include additional days for orientation, pre-school and post-school activities and in-service education. The Board has discretionary power to identify holidays in the school calendar to be observed during each school year, except those holidays specified and required by law.
