AUBURN HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

  TRAVEL PROCEDURES

Players are required to ride the designated school bus to all games, unless informed otherwise.  In the case of a coach not having a  Commercial Driver License or from some other conflict, parents will be asked to fill out a Parent or Guardian Consent Form, giving permission to transport students in a privately owned vehicle.  Auburn City Schools and AHS baseball are only liable for the welfare of the athletes going to baseball games when traveling by bus.

Players on the JV, Freshman, and 8th grade teams may ride home with a parent/guardian after the game.  This requires the parent signing a waiver after the game that the head coach keeps.  Players wanting to ride with another players’ parents must have a written permission slip from their parent explaining whom they have permission to ride with.  Players cannot drive or ride to and from games with siblings or friends.  A violation of this policy is subject to immediate dismissal from the team.  If there are special circumstances regarding travel, they may be cleared in advance with the head coach.

There may arise a situation when a bus is not available.  If this is the case with JV, Freshman, and 8th grade teams, the head coach will contact parents to serve as drivers for the game.

Varsity athletes ride to each game on the bus and return on the bus.  Coach Cimo may grant permission to ride with a parent if special circumstances exist.  Since most varsity athletes are licensed drivers, transportation home after games is not as big an issue.

The varsity team usually has a least 1 overnight trip.  All team rules apply throughout the trip since the player is under the immediate supervision of AHS coaches.  A violation of team rules may result in a player’s parents being called and asked to pick up their son.
