Basic team information:

·         We will have 2 teams, JV and Varsity, both with up to 22 players.

o   There is no guarantee that we will keep 22 players for either team.

·         Players may occasionally be “brought up” from JV for a particular Varsity game and/or to join the Varsity team at the conclusion of the JV season

·         The 50% (or 6-man) rule may impact us this year. We can only select 6 players from any current roster for either the JV or the Varsity. This means:

o   No more than 6 players can be selected from a current roster for the Varsity or JV

o   No more than 12 total players off of current roster can be selected…period.

Voluntary Conditioning: all sessions at AHS 3:45-5:00

·         It is voluntary, but attendance matters

o   if you’re not playing, use these sessions to help get in shape

o   if you are playing, use these to build friendships, leadership, and chemistry

o   anyone playing can attend on “off days”, but only if those are not needed for recovery.

§  Just coming to cheer people on is a good thing also…

State Cup is Nov 4-6 and Nov 11-13

·         Mon Oct 31-Thur Nov 3

·         Mon Nov 7-Thur Nov 10

·         Mon Nov 28-Fri Dec 3

·         Mon Dec 5-Fri Dec 9

·         Mon Dec 12-Wed Dec 14

Fall Evaluations/Tryouts*

·         Mon Nov 14-Fri Nov 18

·         This is MANDATORY.

o   Club players who will continue beyond State Cup or athletes on other Varsity teams can make arrangements (ahead of time) to only attend certain days.

·         A general roster will be posted on Fri, 11/18.

Mandatory Conditioning

·         Club players who play at Disney or continue beyond Christmas break (some Region teams) or athletes on other Varsity teams can make arrangements (ahead of time) to only attend certain days.

·         Wed Jan 4-Fri Jan 6

·         Mon Jan 9-Fri Jan 13

·         Tue Jan 17-Fri Jan 20

Training begins Mon Jan 23.

First game is Mon, Feb 13

*There will be an emergency try-out period available Jan 23-24. This will be utilized only for new players who moved into Auburn after the Fall Evaluation period or in other, similar, extreme situations.

You must create a workout plan that fits your particular needs and abilities.

Some of you are training/playing with your club team all the way through the break. You may only need to build in enough rest days.

Others of you aren’t able to hit your 1-mile benchmark time yet and need to build in 4-5 basic running workouts per week.

Workout days on the calendar serve only as a general guide. The key is to build a routine that WORKS FOR YOU, do it, record it…and then turn it in to one of our seniors on 1/4.

Core = 7-10 minutes of ab/core work. 30 second intervals with a 30 second rest every 2 minutes

IP = “Injury Prevention”: 1 leg 1 finger touches, 1 leg star jumps, and hamstring isometrics. 2-4 repetitions of 30 second working periods.

Examples of Fartleks (interval training) below.

SAQ's (Speed, Agility, Quickness) are things like T-drills, Illinois Agility Squares, Sprint Ladders, plyometric exercises (speed feet, ManU stacks, cone hop/sprint outs, etc.) Design your own, work for 30 seconds, rest for 1 minute, repeat. Vary recovery times as needed to fully recover...emphasis is on quality of explosive movement, NOT QUANTITY. Work for 20-30 minutes.

Level 2 Fartlek:

o    2 min jog                 (0:00)

o    25 sec – 50%                           (2:00)

o    50 sec recovery                       (2:25)

o    25 sec – 50%                           (3:15)

o    50 sec recovery                       (3:40)

o    20 sec – 75%                           (4:30)

o    90 sec recovery                       (4:50)

o    15 sec – 90%                           (6:20)

o    90 sec recovery                       (6:35)

o    10 sec – 100%                         (8:05)

o    45 sec recovery                       (8:15)

o    15 sec – 90%                           (9:00)

o    90 sec recovery                       (9:15)

o    20 sec – 75%                           (10:45)

o    90 sec recovery                       (11:05)

o    25 sec – 50%                           (12:35)

o    (13:00)

Level 3 Fartlek:
